DNA of Spirit-filled Devotion

This passage gives us a glimpse into the early church and what they were all about after the Holy Spirit showed up at Pentecost. These believers weren’t just casually interested in Jesus—they were completely captivated by the gospel. They realized the weight of their sin and the incredible grace of Jesus’ sacrifice, and it changed everything. Their faith had a clear DNA made up of three key things: a deep commitment to God’s Word, a radical generosity that shaped their fellowship, and a devotion to worship through prayer and sharing meals. And this wasn’t just a Sunday thing—it cost them. Following Jesus meant risking their social standing, family relationships, and even their safety. But their unity and love for one another made them stand out, drawing people in. This passage challenges us today to ask: Does our church, does our own faith, reflect that same kind of devotion? Or have we let distractions and personal comfort water it down?
