The Grace Gift of Gathering

Acts 20:7-16 gives us a beautiful picture of the church gathering. The early believers gathered around the resurrected Christ, the Lord’s Table, and the proclamation of God’s Word, because God knows how forgetful and easily distracted His people are. But the gathering was never meant to be the end of their mission. They gathered to be reminded, strengthened, equipped, and then scattered back into the world as people sent to live on mission. Ultimately, the grace of gathering is about Jesus, the One we gather to remember, the One proclaimed at the Table and through the Word, and the One who goes with us in our sending.
